Derek represents clients at federal and state hazardous waste cleanup sites. He helps them address environmental contamination and restore injured natural resources. He has experience working on cases involving CERCLA, MTCA, and state regulatory compliance. He also advises clients on a variety of regulatory compliance matters arising under state and federal regulatory schemes. In addition to his environmental work, he advises clients on insurance recovery, insurance claims, and historic insurance assets.

Represents a Fortune 500 company at a CERCLA remediation site, including cleanup oversight, cost allocation, contribution claim risk management, and settlement negotiations.

Represents a municipality at a MTCA sediment cleanup site, including insurance recovery and risk management.

​

Advise a private party on voluntary cleanup under MTCA and compliance with an environmental covenant.

​

Assists a client with the sale of real estate with potential or known contamination issues.
